Hi all,
when i pop out with the dog, i have to leave the car unlocked if i nip into the shop etc, because if i lock it the alarm will go off as the dog is in there and he gets a little stressed!, can anyone tell me how to lock the car without arming the alarm, ive even tried putting the key in the door and locking it that way.

Press the control lock button in the normal way, and then after the red light below the mirror starts flashing, press the control lock button once more - the red light below the mirror will show one "long" flash, and then just flash as per normal.

I want to know too!
Happened to me today. My E61 is new-to-me! Golden Retriever isn't. He's 5.

Regards,
Dave

Thanks so much! That helps a lot.

Rudy Thanks!

This is an incredible site. We've owned 5 Miatas, and I still spend a lot of time on the Miata forum. However, it isn't as large as this site, nor does it have as much information for the new owner. Congrats!

We've had a number of BMW's. Here's a partial list...
318, 323, 325 Cab, 850i (modified, Dinan, 6-speed), 328 Coupe (Dinan 3), 540 (Sports; 6-speed), and still have an M3 Cab/SMG(Dinan 3?), plus our new-to-us 530 XIT

So far the hardest car to get to know has been the 530 wagon. Must be my age! Oh, I'm slow getting to know the M3 Cab too....even without iDrive.
BMW's aren't a passing fancy here.

Thanks for the link to the owner's manual. It'll help a lot.
