Keyless entry troubleshooting

After having my e61 for nearly 2 years and having intermittent RKE and Comfort Access, I finally beat it and everything is working as it should.
Found wires in the tailgate hinge broken, spliced & soldered new sections in, but ultimately that still didn't correct it, though it did improve FM reception.. This was after visually inspecting the Diversity Antenna and finding no obvious faults with it. All lighting and various other tailgate related functions are working properly at this point.
I ended up purchasing an 11/04 Production Date diversity antenna from an E63 6'er on eBay a couple of weeks ago. Replaced it, let the car sleep, and bam. Now it's fully functional.

Good work! I had to do the exact same thing a few months ago and it fixed my problem as well. I think it was from an '06 6er.

So, one of our keys works with comfort access buth the other one does not, even after replacing the battery. I wonder why? Had to swap keys with my wife since it was her key being troublesome.

My antenna amplifier looked pristine inside, yet replacing it (with one from a 6 series) took me from comfort access not working, to working. Also gave me FM radio again.

I dont remember the part number offhand but the amplifier from a 6 series (E63 I believe) fits and works fine. It was significantly cheaper on eBay than that from an E61.

Look into part number 1 on this diagram: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=65_1387.
You would need to ensure you get one with a frequency that matches yours, there are two options.
