Jumping Revs 535d Touring 2006 RHD
Hi, my 535d touring has started to judder. When accelerating in all auto gears the revs drop slightly causing the car to judder, this happens at all speeds. At lower speeds it can cause the car to keep changing gear. I've just had it diagnosed and it has a Throttle Actuator fault code. The Throttle actuator has been replaced with a brand new one and the code has gone but the juddering hasn't. Any ideas what this could be? I've only recently bought the car and the issue started on my way home from the garage. I had to travel 90 miles to get the car so it's been difficult dealing with the garage. I initially requested they take the car back and give me a full refund as I'm well with in my rights to do this with the consumer rights act 2015. They refused this so I was preparing to take them to court but I like the car and they said they'd pay for it to be fixed. There're now refusing to pay the £359 it's cost me to change the Throttle Actuator because the juddering hasn't been fixed! So it looks like I'll be taking them to court again unless someone can help me with sorting this juddering!
Many thanks

Whoever diagnosed the Throttle Valve as the problem didn't know what they're doing. These very rarely fail and I very very much doubt if one did it would give the symptoms you describe.
Most likely in your case it's the torque converter lockup clutch that is failing. It's an extremely common problem with high mileage (100k+) 535d's.
Repairable, but at a transmission specialist and at around £1000.
I'd reject the car.

Lesson learned I guess. I'll be taking longer test drives once I've returned this car. This car didn't show any signs of it on the short test drive I had.
Thanks again for the help Jason.
Really appreciate it.
