Evan's E61 Build: Pics, Updates, and Wagon Love for All
#281
Haha, yes us wagon guys gotta stick together.
I'm leaning towards APR "stage 2 tune"- which is just a tune and smaller pulley. I'd like to add their cooling system, but I haven't found anyone who has actually installed one in an A6. I've only seen them in S4s. Maybe some wider wheels/tires, and I'm dying to vinyl wrap the chrome window trim to black. I've been a BMW guy forever- E46 M3 to E90 335i sedan to E39 touring w/ S62 swap (still have it). This is my 1st Audi, so I still have it stuck in my head that I gotta have shadow-line trim.
All the mods I do will have to be pretty conservative. Considering I'm going to have to keep this car forever now that our friends at Audi and BMW stopped sending us their full size wagons. But they send us the X6M... What's up with that?
Anyway, thanks for allowing the temporary derailment of your awesome thread. Stoked I saw your car in person.

...ummm please let me have that, thank you.
I have dreams of smaller twin turbos on an S62, fast spooling and offering oem like power delivery, just more of it. The sound my old FBO E39 M5 made was so gnarly, I loved it, I could only imagine it with turbo spool.
As for the US wagon market, lower the new Q7 and it is essentially a wagon. Hopefully they build a SQ7 or RSQ7 just because they can.

My "beta tester" throttle body injection was replaced with the production version, not only does it look better it also flows more fuel!
Before
After
More corn!
Cross referencing part numbers on Realoem to make my suspension M5-Spec.
More M5 goodies for future projects...
Delphi coils replacing the oem units
M5 rear control and guide arms, as it turns out the control arms are exactly the same as what I already have, the smaller guide arms have beefier inner bushings. Next will be the rear integral links and front lower control arms and all suspension will be M5 spec (or better).
Left: 535xi Right: M5
Left: 535xi Right: M5
Service manual says to deflate and remove air bags before replacing the guide arm. This can be side-stepped by jacking up the steering knuckle which will more the air bag enough to get the top bolt out and back in.
