Hi guys,

I want to mount a new diffuser.
now the question:

How do I mount it without taking off the whole bumper?
Is it possible? If not, it's amess to do this?

Maybe a DIY?

You have to take off the rear bumper.

It is the only way to get at the clips that keep the diffusor attached to the bumper.

While you have the bumper off, you can also clean the ends of the sunroof drain tubes, and get a look at the compressor for the air suspension.

The TIS also tells to remove the rear bumper to get the diffuser deattached, but I remember member Patrick E61 had his rear diffuser changed without removing the whole bumper. Maybe you should ask him...

Here's the TIS instructions of removing the diffuser. At least you can spot the clips' locations:

I changed my diffuser without removing the rear bumper, not sure would it be the same on E61 though.
I just undo the bolts (4 or 6) underneath and pull it out, it was quite straight forward but you got to be careful when you pull it out and dont break the brackets.

I had to remove the rear bumper, and it wasn't that big of a deal... I just watched the tech remove it in 5 minutes.

The only thing that you have to be careful with are the PDC sensors.

Once the bumper is off, flip it over and remove the clips.

That TIS picture did NOTHING to help me figure out how to remove the bumper... I had it in English, Italian, Finnish and German!
