Default E61 tailgate (remote control stopped working)

Hi All,

I have read the topic https://5series.net/forums/e61-touri...acement-72751/ about the problems with the tailgate wiring.

My remote control (key functions) all stopped working yet. So I can't use the remote central locking anymore. When I manually open the tailgate, and he is standing completely open, the remote control/central locking does work. When the tailgate is closed the remote control/central locking now don't work anymore.

Note: all the rest of the functions in the tailgate are working without problems. There is no water in the diversity module, all complete dry. So i'm pretty sure it's a (almost) broken wire. But I don't now which one of the 4 hinges I have to check...? I think number 3 from as seen from left...

Questions:
- Which one of the 4 hinges ( 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | ) are cables for the remote control/diversity module?
- Best way to check where they are broken?

Would be very great if someone can help me!

Thanks in advanced.
Dieter

Unit for remote control, you mean the diversity module in the rear spoiler? If not, you should check that too.

I mean the diversity module indeed. Complete dry, so it is 99% problem with wiring. But I don't know which of the 4 hinges I have to check. Left left, Right left, Left Right or Right Right (as seen from the point of standing right in front of it).

In the "Tailgate wiring harness replacement" thread, there are quite a few people mentioning non-working remotes. I'd have hoped that info would be in there.

Maybe you should go thru that thread again? One easy way is to search within the thread for the word remote, if you haven't done that already.

Right side hinge, you should open both covers as there are likely other broken wires as well.

Did that already. But I didn't figured out which one of hinges I need to check for the diversity module.
