While anxiously awaiting delivery of my 535d Touring, bought unseen based largely only on a few pictures on a website, and having verified the options list through BMW based on the VIN, I'm left thinking about the details and wondering whether some of the rumours I've heard are true, i.e. that the suspension is harder than the E60 and that split rear seats are standard on an E61. I'm thinking euro spec here (German); can you shed some light on the exact differences? My model was built 26 Sep 2007 and is thus an LCI, whatever that acronym means? I know the 535d has the advanced aircon and centre armrest up front as well as an autobox as stock, which is different from the smaller displacement cars but I'm keen to know the difference between a touring and sedan in general.

Uh ones a wagon the other is a sedan...

There are some wagon only things in the back end of the car...
In the USA all wagons have the Panoramic sun Roof , AWD, and the sport package is just a trim package. All of the USDM wagons also have BI xenon lights.

I'm fairly certain that world wide all E61's have the load level suspension ( Air Springs in the rear). RWD is available in Europe... your option packages are different, there is a E61 M5...all E61 have 40/60 split rear seats.I don't know about if the ride is harder ( had a 535I sport before) but there is more roll since we don't get the ARS from the RWD sedans, and the sun roof adds a ton of weight up top.

LCI=Life cycle Impulse....mid life cycle refresh.

Most of your questions can be answered in the FAQ/information section, have you checked there?

did a global search and checked 200 old posts to no avail, hence my post.

Meantime an additional question, does comfort seats come with memory and lumbar support as standard?

In the USA the Comfort seats are 20 way power with lumbar with 2 position memory on both driver and passenger, but I think the lumbar is part of the Sport package and I think on some model years of E61 you had to get the sport package to get the comfort seats.
This could all be different in Europe though... most of the options there are individual instead of packages...

bigbadbull mentioned it already and just to confirm how it is in Europe; the E61 has the following options that the E60 does not have
- rear air suspension (standard on all E61)
- Panorama Roof (option on E61)
- Electric opening/closing boot (option on E61)

All other options are the same on both cars.

To answer a couple of the questions you had:
- I had an M-Sport suspension on my E61 and it was not harder than any of my M-Sport E60s.
- You are correct, the folding-split rear seats are standard.

Find attached a few LCI catologues, which should help you understand what options your LCI 535d has.
They are all in German, so I hope you can work it out!

Finally... CONGRATS on the new car

Canadian M-Sport Package has all kind of goodies, including aluminum control arms, bigger brakes, a bunch of decals, and the anthractive (sp) headliner. Much more expensive than US Sport Package, worth every penny.

The main difference is of course that the E61 is a much, much cooler car...

Some of us cannot make a living from just hanging 24/7 on this forum...
