FYI, if there are reservations on using a run flat, going larger improves any concern of ride quality.

Personally I like how the RFT tightens up the handling too on this heavy car. My summers are no RFT but the winters are. I could find the summer I wanted and knew I'd have a full size spare with me anyway because summer is when I'll get into knarlier roads and have more potential for a flat.

Can you confirm your tire size for the 189s? If they are staggered 18x8 front and 18x 18.5 rear, I am wondering if i could use my existing 245/40 r18s on there. This may solve my issue with finding wheels with ET43 (w/o paying an arm and a leg at the dealer)

confirm what? please do some of your own research instead of solely what other people tell you. Tire Rack will show you that a 245/40x18 tire will fit fine on an 8" or 8.5" width rim....

for myself, I wanted more sidewall and ground clearance so i am using a 245/45x18 on 8.5" for summer and an 8" wheel in winter.

I did see you could use a 245/40, but was curious on how it handled. Do you notice a difference in performance from the 8 to 8.5? Do you have 8.5s all away around? what offset are you running on the 8.5s? Any pics? thanks in advance.

my wheel/tire info is all listed at length in other threads. 8.5 all around. "performance" ? it's a wagon, not a sportscar it works great and feels fine
