yeh i saw that last month, one thing i was trying to wonder, is how the turbos are attached to the exhaust boxes at the rear, (correct me if im wrong)
is that because there is not that much space inside the V10 engine bay? Must be as the V10 Does hog the space.
M5 700bhp, RS6 & E63 killer
Nive anyhow!

Im prettttttttttttttttttttttty sure the turbos arent by the exhaust. It wouldnt make any sense at all in terms of airflow

Huh? Where else would they be? Turbo uses the exhaust to spin the compressor. Supercharger use the engine.

Currency Motors had a twin turbo M5 displayed at Bimmerfest with turbos mounted underneath by the mufflers. It's unconventional but not unusual or revolutionary by any means.

I think the original article is more about generating interest than reporting real spy revelations. As someone has already noted there is no room for turbos next to the engine.
The Currency Motors car exists, but has never been offered for independent testing, leading to suspicions that it does not perform as claimed. The turbos replace the rear silencer boxes and have to send the pressurised air all the way back to the front of the car. The was a picture of the underside in BMWcar magazine early this year. See attachment.
BMW has broken with it's no turbos for petrol engines policy with the 335i and the 135i, but they are also working to introduce high performance hybrid systems, an upgrade to the M5 seems more likely to get an electric motor boost to the V-10 than shoe-horning in an inefficient turbo system. And the V-10 is at the beginning of its development life so more power is likely to be found along the way fairly soon.
