hello all, I am now looking for a 06 E60 M5 with 40000KM. The car is excellent! However, the car haven't made the SMG pump replacement yet. Anyone knows how long can the SMG pump survive and need to be replaced? The car just replaced flywheel.

 

Mileage does not matter on SMG pumps. It randomly goes out. Sometimes over 100k miles on them

without heavy track days. Sometimes 20k, 40k. My sister's M6 has 30k on them, but no problem on

SMG pump except oil cooler and PS resovior leak. SMG pump alone is not expensive. New version

is like $300 (last longer from what they said). The whole SMG hydraulic unit is like $3k.

 

Mine went bad at 90k miles, and no way the whole unit is $ 3k I had to pay almost $7k for the part and labor for my 550i SMG and I would except for the m5 to cost even more

 

Whole unit is around $3k to $4k, it all depends where you buy it. The labor cost will be

very expensive since pulling it out and labor in USA is extremely high. I guess you

paid $2k ~ $3k for labor.

 

don't worry about it. just have the vehicle checked out before your money down.
