Hey all looking for some advice. I've done a search and read all the threads regading issues with installing sprint boosters. I've got a problem that seems different from some there and I'm looking for advice. Following the recent ongoing post about SBs I decided to give it a go!

The SB I've insatlled has different settings rather than just off and on. It's a "VELOCITY" I'm told this is new, it can only be installed with the connections the right way around, can only fit one way, the correct way. After installing and driving off I received an "engine fault" reduced power symbol. I stopped turnt engine off and on again and carried on. The power was ok but the engine light remains lit. If I leave the SB off I have no problems, but still have engine light illuminated. If I switch SB on after a short while (2-5mins) I get reduced power again. I've tried removing the SB and going to standard but the engine light remais lit.

Anyone idea what is happening here?! Or what I can do to rectify this problem please?

Thanks in advance.

Stormster you'll need to get the fault codes read and deleted by the stealers now, as for what the problem is with your SB... no idea.

Sorry to hear about your car.

A little bit of info on the fault codes: a good BMW indie mech will be able to deal with the codes - no need to run to the stealer.

As for the situation with the Velocity unit, I'd first make sure it is the Velocity unit causing the fault codes (most likely it is, but still best be sure) by disconnecting it and erasing the fault codes, then driving for a few days without it to make sure fault codes don't come back. Most likely, it is a matter of exchanging the velocity unit though... unless someone can "patch" it for you, but most likely - unfortunately - you'd probably need to replace the unit.

As for connecting it wrong, when I was installing my SB, I remember that the way the plugs are designed, you would not be able to plug them in backwards, so I doubt its an issue of bad installation.

Velocity units are still pretty new, so I'd imagine not all the common issues have been ironed out yet...

Just head over to autozone/advance auto, and they will reset the code for free in 5 minutes

Hopefully one of the members from Asia that are using the Velocity unit can chime in. The problem is the title says "SB problem" and this is not a Sprint Booster. The SB and Velocity units are two different brands.

Are you sure you installed it correctly? As it can be fitted backwards by accident. I know its made to go only one way, but it is possible to fit it backwards. My buddy had installed his SB backwards on accident and got the same fault codes. Once he corrected the problem it worked perfectly. Try to double check to see if the numbers match up, 1 to 1 through 6 to 6. Also there is one side that is shaped like a letter "D". Make sure it all matches up correctly. GL pal.

Keep us posted for others who may have Velocity issues in the future. The only SB issues I've heard much about are fault codes being thrown due to a backwards install.
