I have had loads of quick/tuned audis and they are very very quick! I have seen these B5's running over 1000bhp reliably!!
If he is runing a 500bhp+ tune (which is very easy to get, exhaust, intercoolers, new GT ball bearing turbos and a chip and thats it!!) he will have loads more torque than you (I'd guess at approx 600 lbft) and is running at approx 1600kg to your 1950kg.
therussian mensioned the transmition and traction, well they do have TCS but don't really need it with 4 wheel drive and the 6 speed manual transmition is pretty quick to use and very strong.
These B5's will do 200mph so will run all day with the M5 but he should be miles quicker to 150mph than you if he knows what he is doing.
I wouldn't bet a penny and just have a laugh if I was you!
Do a search on youtube to see how these things stack up, very impressive for not a load of cash but I would say the don't handle the best with a understeer stance unless you use the torque/throttle to slid round corners!!

But you might have a point, Jay: if the guy IS running 600 lb ft and has a stick (would be surprising if he had an automatic )... well, still, as a bet, if we're talking about symbolic figures, I'd probably still bet on the M5, just for the underdog odds. But you do have a very valid point (not to mention, you obviously know what you're talking about )

Yeah this guy i sa buddy and by no chance am i going to throw down any cash on these runs.. He's done alot to his car.. and i've done nothing..
What do i expect? i expect that he will spank me by a second or better on the 1/4 mile.. but a rolling start... at 50km/ph... thats where it may get interesting!

1000bhp reliably??? I don't know how reliable a 1000bhp car can be, but I'll tell you, I've had two A6's with that same 2.7TT engine, and while yes, it is a VERY capable engine, I'd say it is probably the LEAST reliable car I've ever had. And I still had two of them LOL (well, one was a company car, actually).

My last audi was 800bhp and 680 lbft only did a about 18k on that but before that I had a 560bhp beast, I did nearly 90k on that and all hard miles. Audis are normally bulit proof so you were unlucky.
This will be interesting, let us know more about the B5!

That Audi looks nice.. I must say, but I'm hoping the M takes it. I loved my Audi so much and never had a problem with it. If the leases were better at the time mine was up I would have had another one. Until my car now I thought the Audi was the best I've owned, as you can see I'm a changed girl
Can you somehow hook up a video camera and tape it? That would be a nice race to see!
