Problem with my M5

That is the risk I was unwilling to take getting a used m5 out of factor warranty or out of cpo warranty. Even with low miles, when something goes, it REALLY costs ya. Unforunately you really cannot tell the dealer "no way" as who else is going to be able to diagnosis and fix the s85 engine. Atleast I know I would not want some indy shop touching that. Unfortunately that is the risk you take in this situation and the risk of buying a cheap M (relative to what it is new). The problem with M's going for 40k is that people with a ton less money who cannot aford the repairs are getting their hands on them without thinking about this issue.

GL and hopefully it's a "simple" issue like a gasket.

An '06 with such low mileage (39K) should get the attention of BMWNA ... unless abuse can be proved BMW shouldn't stand that far behind a 5 year old car

I worry about things l ike this too. My 06 went out of warranty in April of 2010. I get regular scheduled maintenance with the "M" boys at my local dealer... luckily a friend is the certified M Mechanic there.
Good luck man!

I think the 06 has a SIB about this problem. I forgot what it was called, but something about oil entering the intake in your case, the blowby gasses.
Check out M5board, I believe it was posted there.
