I will have to drive it a bit before I decide, I am still getting used to the car. I've got the aluminum pedals and hard wired V1. I have my eye on the carbon fiber mirror insets (but $500 is a bit rich - that's like a week worth of gas ) Probably the first mod will be the sprint booster. I would love to hear your suggestions.
I'm actually trying to put together a group buy for the carbon fiber mirror covers: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...t=0&start=0

I'd also recommend, wheels, suspension, exhaust, software..etc... the list goes on and on and on.. haha

Congrats on pulling the trigger! Sorry if this has been asked and answered already: Are you sleeping at night? I'm interested to know what its like going from to the mighty m5 from 550 an original driver!
Too excited to sleep...

It's a pretty low risk change. When you get a new car you don't know if you will really like it until you have lived with it for a while. Having driven a 550 for 2 years I am intimately familar with, and love so many aspects of the car, that the M5 really becomes just a variation on the theme. I really love the SMG (which I see you know well), but am still getting used to it and sometimes a bit jerky. I love the exhaust note and even cruising around at low speed you can feel the power in the car. The steering is very different as well because I was coming from a car with active steering. Definately a lighter feel. I see why it is called "the beast". That is probably the best way to describe it, you sense the potential of the car all the time even when the beast is not growling and snarling. There is no question that the M5 has a level of performance that I will never see the edges of, and yet it is still a comfortable, smooth everyday car which asks for very little tradeoff in terms of comfort and practicality, given its level of performance. Very happy with my decision.

The M mode hud and all the little trimmings like the coloured stit ching on the steering wheel are all little things that add to my enjoyment of the "M" experence as well. I am also enjoying the active seat bolsters but I'm not sure if it is a novelty that will wear off or not.

Congrats on your new car! Beautiful color. Don't think there's one like it in Vancouver.

Very Cool.
