No, not really but is is much quicker then depressing the gas while the car is moving. Also the "kick" from going from 1st to 2nd gear is smaller. I have spoken to my bmw dealer, and they recommend lauching like this as it stresses the mechanical components less and there is no cooling-off period as well.

I have been able to do it 10 times in less than 5 minutes (at traffic lights) , with no problems whatsoever.

dont blame me thou, i live in a country where everything is not as supposed to be, here the first bmw m6 was delivered on the 22nd June , way before general release. And now we have 7 m6s and only 2 m5s ...

anyways i "test-drove" the m5 on a closed curcuit, and since i was not allowed to do LC (of course, considering it was a car for a customer) , i tried the above method which had i had learned from my m3. No luck though, the revs just started building up from idle and the car did accelerate , but nowhere as ferociously as it would with LC...

Wow, M6's since June?
Must be nice for those 7 lucky owners...well, the 2 M5 owners are lucky too.

So, what country do you live in?

in bulgaria ! at least i am proud to say i had the first m3 there (strangely enough) it was imported on the 6th May 2003 for my birthday.

I must say anyone that thinks of visiting will be quite astonished, we have 4 mclaren slrs, 6 maybach 62s , around 10 bentley conti gts, 2 carrera gts...

as for the 5 series, there are at least a thousand now , and considering the city is not big (1million) i see about 50 of them everyday , so ive decided to go with a 4.8is (soon when i get the money)

//edit

oh and the first m6 was delivered at a cost of 178000euro so the guy could be first
he also paid 120000 for the new merc s500 which was meant to be a demo vehicle for eastern europe,
but he bought it on the 7th august.

Winter wheels are on! 19" seems very small compared to the 21" Hartges

Now 255?s - before 295?s :thumbsdown:

Now it?s a long 4 months before the 21" wheels will be on again!

Look at it the positive way... at least you didn't have to downgrade to 18's!

Thanks for rubbing it in! Now for that you'll have to let me test drive your M5 with "just" 19" rims.
