My dealer is trying his luck! Well... I can assure you his luck will run out with me!

I am not paying a single dollar for this! If my clutch is gone, then there's something seriously wrong with the transmission! And they are gonna do something about it!

BS, dont give those stealers a F***in dime

Can someone explain why 2006 M5's have so many SMG problems compared with 2007+? Was something physically changed between 2006 and 2007 in the SMG transmission?
Can anyone address the above issue I raised earlier? Simply saying 2006 SMGs are more failure prone than the 2007s makes no sense to me, it cannot be pixey dust.

If there was actually something physically changed between the 2006 to the 2007, I will pay more for the 2007.

These SMG clutch Failures are scarying me a little.

Reassuring hahaha. Everything will break eventually I am just talking about the probability that it will. And I am tryign to justify if it is worth buying a 2007 over a 2006 because something was physically changed in the SMG to make it more robust and reliable.

I guess I might be getting that GE Financial Aftermarket Warranty after all......Not sure if that would even cover the clutch tho.

The clutch release bearing needs to be greased, sometimes they get a little stiff a cause clutch slippage due to no fault of your own. The dealer needs to look at that and get it replaced under warranty before your clutch goes! It has been a known problem with 2006 model M5's.

I just got my car back today.. new clutch kit under warranty.

The car feels completely different, the tranny actually blips on up -shifts now while it didn't before and hence the head bouncing effect. Now it shifts smooth with no loss of RPM. Must be the new software update they performed after replacing clutch.

My CA Auto tune has been flashed, means I need to get it re-tuned again.

Need to also run the clutch in about 200 miles.

I thought it was only a problem on 2005 build date cars? Can someone hopefully from BMW please confirm if the problem is only on 2006's or 2005 early builds?

There has got to be a service bulletin somewhere stating the affected VINs?!?!?

Does anyone know when the TCU SMG re-program will be released by ESS? I am probably going to keep my car stockish but I would buy this in an instant if it was for sale

I hear that the SMGII E46 owners love the ESS TCU tune.

This may help reduce clutch wear if the new settings make the shifting more crisp and less sloppy and lazy.
