Hi all,

Forgive the newbie question, but is there a general FAQ for purchasing your first M5? I found the "So You Just Bought an E60" document on another forum, but it specifically excludes the M5. Can I rely on that document anyway? Is there some other source or thread I should seek out to find out the common pitfalls of buying my first M5? Thanks in advance.

Hi John and welcome to the forum.


The term "newbie" and M5 generally don't occur in the same sentence. Those who purchase these beasts usually have had some experience with the other BMW models and want something a little more. With that said, if you have never owned a bimmer before, there are some commonalities and the post you refer to will provide you some background.


My suggestion to you is to browse through some of the posts in this section and if you have specific things you want to know, ask them here. We have a pretty significant M5 community here and owners will be happy to provide you with guidance.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a newbie to the M5, but not to fast cars.I've been lurking on the forums for years, but never got this close to actually buying an M5 till recently. Now, I just want to learn as much as I can. Thanks for the guidance.
