So far the most advanced "detailing" I've done is wash, clay, quick wax (sonax quick wax, amazing stuff !). I've tried to carnuba wax once but it failed since the Sonax premium carniba wax I bought turned out to be half-a-year past "use-by ..." date and was basically crumbling.

I didn't give up on the thought of doing some proper sealant one day, but now I'm thinking that if I'd have to go ahead and do so much work anyway, I should definitely add a polish step.
Now my car has been detailed by the dealer before I bought it, it's been a few months now and it doesn't really have any serious problems, no haze or holograms, but I've been spotting a few barely noticeable hairline scratches here and there naturally appearing over the time, so I'm pondering doing at least those parts.
Main question: does it at all make sense to polish certain spots (yes just because im lazy), and what would be the right product for that (needless to mention, I'd be doing it by hand).

I have started using Adam's Polishes products and am very happy so far. Check this out:

Instead of doing it by hand, I would recommend investing in a dual action polisher to start with. Using a polisher will give a more even finish than by doing it by hand, also less fatigue and chances of scratching the clear coat.

If you're not in the mood to do the entire car, at least do the entire panel where the defect is located. As for which product to use, I'm still a newbie at this so can't help you there. May be some pros will chime in or checkout Autopia. That site is a detailer's dream land...never realize there are so many products out there.
