Maybe not back, but more frequently? I'll try. Thanks for asking. Is grogan545 still here? I updated to 25.01.01, and I am hoping to do some testing despite the hot weather. I am back to my stock wheels and tires. I took the aftermarkets off, returning to my RFT's, because we will be taking some trips to burn off my excess lease miles. And, yes, my spare is back in my trunk. 25.01.01 feels fine, but is it faster or slower? Who knows? I don't think the SOP meter typically can tell the difference in software versions unless something drastic changes--like what happened to me once upon a time.

And, to keep on topic, what are the displacements of the cars that started this thread?

M5 = 5.0 V10 Naturally Aspirated
SL65 = 6.0 V12 Twin Turbo

Umm.. Not much of a contest.

how does the E60 Alpina B5 compare?
4.4 V8, 500ps & 700nm - that's a lot of power & torque! (-I believe a standard M5 has around 500ps & 520nm)
they quote 4,7 to 100km/h and 314 km/h

a bit more unique as well

Hey chickie , I am talking about displacement. That's the question. I know; I could look it up in the dictionary, but I though someone would know of the top.

I love the Alpina B5. Different type car, but I strongly prefer it to M5. The Alpina has gobs of torque (like the V-8 MB's), a good tranny, and gets good mileage relatively. I used to have a comparison test where the Alpina was show to be quicker/faster than the M5 at the usual speeds/distances, but no longer have it. Sorry.

Znod has made a post intending to rub us M5 owners the wrong way. His right. I picked the M5 for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is because MB are "chick" cars. I was in Scottsdale last week and saw what seemed liked dozens of SL's and not one had a male driver. SL65 or SLR McLaren are nice looking cars, Linsey Lohan and Paris Hilton love em! The M5 is a beast and I have yet to see a women driving one. No knock against women or MB but I don't drive "chick" cars.

My neighbor has the new CLS63. Nice car, his wife drives it all the time. If performance was the only consideration I would have gone an entirely different route but for a 4 door sedan with performance and presence, nothing beats the M5. By the way, lets not lose sight that this is an M5 forum. Some of us happen to consider this a first choice vehicle. There are rice rocket civics on the street that can smoke my car but I don't want one of them either.

It's just fun to meet up with someone on the highway at 70mph and take a quick run to 150 and back when traffic is clear.
Agree Not to many drivers of modded up and or factory racing sleds willing to find out who the king is over 100!!! They're cool cucumbers !!!!

I am truly attracted to the M5. But, while the price, looks, and handling/feel are right (especially with the visual update coming), I could never own one because of the antiquated SMG (or crippled manual), horrible gas mileage (at least compared, for example, to the MB and Z06 V-8's), and relatively low-torque engine (not good at all around town).

Oh, all on this board say M5 is a shit . A litterbin with wheels ... Strange, very strange, xexyus
