I arrived only yesterday and I found 3-4 thread where people laugh of the thirst V10 .
(and I bet I would find many others dozens using the 'search' function)
Now sorry but I think you have right, when you say "Don't argue with idiots because they'll drag you down to their level and win by experience."
Bye!

Hi Friends:
My wife and I are in Carlsbad CA visiting my son and family. So, my son and I ended up behind an M5 at a light in his AMG SL65. The M5 moved out under modest power on green and we started to pull up beside him--at which point he took off. So, my son floored the MB, and the M5 might as well have been standing still. Oh well.
We had the top down and the AC on, while he was alone. He may have had the AC on. Of course my son's car should beat the M5, but it was not pretty a pretty race at all.
I am truly attracted to the M5. But, while the price, looks, and handling/feel are right (especially with the visual update coming), I could never own one because of the antiquated SMG (or crippled manual), horrible gas mileage (at least compared, for example, to the MB and Z06 V-8's), and relatively low-torque engine (not good at all around town). I really hope BMW updates the M5's performance/mileage features soon. I'd really like to be able to consider one. As it stands, we probably will end up with an AMG CLS if I decide to keep the old Z06 or with a 550i and a new Z06 otherwise. I wish I could justify choosing an M5 or M6 over the AMG CLS, but there is no way unless things change dramatically.

Antiquated SMG? That?s hilarious
When the M5 first came out I thought how silly of BMW to only offer SMG in a monster like this. Then I bought an M3 with SMG and mastered it, then drove a friend?s F430 Spyder with F1 transmission.
The SMG transmission in the M5 is awesome, and far more advanced and driver involving than any other transmission I've ever used

SLR is a full second faster 0-60 that M5, with a top speed 200+mph, yah thats real girly

The new C63 will have a 0-60 time the same as the M5 most likely a tenth or two faster, with two less cylinders. And it will beat a M5 around any track no problem.

M5 looks like a grocery getter next to the SLR.

Two less cylinders yes, but 1.3 liters more displacement. C Class is also compact, this would compare with the new M3.

I wouldn't exactly call it compact, but it is smaller. M5 is only 200lbs more.
