That is not my concern, its more on the inner wheel where there is more weight due to the chamber angles so more pressure of the car sits on the inside of the tire and a bump or pot hole could be disasterous if the tire is stretched.

mmmmm not so much, if the kind of bump or pothole that you hit causes a slightly more angled or slightly stretched tire to be disasterous then your wheel will probably have a bend in it that a regular tire size would have been unable to prevent as well
i ran slightly stretched in my rear for a while and hit some huge bumps, no damage and no bubbles and i was slammed on kw coils
sounds like some tire guy just said that and has little to no experience with actually doing it
there is theory and practice, they are very different from another

ofcourse i dont make it a habit to hitting em so it doesnt happen to often
but i have had a few scares here and there where i thought i had rash'd up half the wheel
...i get out the car and check and nothing there
just some dust from the cement the tire rubbed on
egh

Sorry to bring up a old thread but this I was the OP but had a screen name change d/t some reasons with the sites problems.
I still would like to get some input for a M5:
Will a 20x11 Et+15 fit on the rear? Best tire size to use?
Will 20x10 Et+15 fit on the fronts? best tire size to use?
I am having a hard time figuring this out as I can't calculate the rolling diameter and if it will rub. Tire rack shows rolling diameters with average wheel widths so its hard to determine because the diameter will decrease if stretching on a tire fit get the wheels fitted flush. All help is greatly appreciated.
