I have seen some nice wheels for sale at the rears are built for a M3 and the size and offset is 20x11 ET13. I wanted to know if these would fit with a 295 tire or even a 305 tire. My previous HRE's were 20x11 with ET 28 and 295 with no issues at all. I would love to get these wheels but I dont want to deal with rubbing or a stretched tire. What do you guys think?

Member bonehead (Ed) had a set of RAC Monolites (20's) on his old E60 M5. He was running 305's in the rear. I'd ask him what the specs of his wheels were.

you are fine with the 295 size tires. for the 305 series, it depends on how low your car is. if you drop like more than 1.5", you will experience rubbing.

My M5 is lowered on H&R. I want to either run a 295/30 or a 305/25 but I think they will rub. I seen Kennys posts on his Radenergie wheels which had offsets of 20mm and 20x11 rear and he didnt rub with 285/30/20 but that was stretched on. I dont want to stretch on tires so maybe I should pass. :wacko:

you are talking about milimeters of stretch, not very noticeable if at all

i ran 275/30/19 on 19x10.5 and there wasnt any noticeable stretch

putting size tires 285 on an 11" wide rims will not look stretched at all. if you do 265's, they will look stretched :twoup:

Depends on what you consider stretched. I ran 275/30/20 on a 10" rear and it looked a little stretched. You could see the wheel when standing behind the car. I went to a 285 and now the sidewall is square and there is some tire protecting the wheel. A 275 on a 10.5" or 11" wheel will look stretched IMHO.

Yeah, I agree. I like to have the wheel a little less than squared so there is protection. I noticed with stretched tires that the wheels are prone to damage easier. I guess I will pass on these bad boys.

none of the wheels i have ever curbed where saved by having a thicker tire.....never

even when people run the oem tire sizes and have oem wheels, they still curb the hell out of them

so really, where is the protection?

I agree. If you hit the curb, the wheel is going to get curb rash, no matter how much or little "wheel protection" you get from your tire. The only difference is the extent of the curbing.
