THE ANSWER IS NO!
Fullstop!
(the engine is different: you need to modify it, if you want it fit)

You can think whatever you want. Wtf would you need to modify the engine dmbsht.
Its such an easy process. For the front, the guys just made a custom-made pipe thats about 6" long to connect it to the straight pipe and exhaust.

I don't know why you calling me an idiot, but you're a btch and a half (there arent other words). if you're talking about fitment, it fitted, so F YOU. we're not talking about the engine here. im saying the pipes are the same size. yeah ofcourse theres gonna be a difference in the sound and performance between the 530i and 545i because the 530i's compression isnt as high. but cross-fitting exhausts between the 525, 530, 545, 550, is not a problem cuz the pipes are the same size.

Well.....bosg's words aint the kindest. However, I have to agree that the 545-550 exhaust does fir in a 530. I do not understand what the heck alex is talking about modifying engine to make it fit. It's just an exhaust for christ's sake. The only issue I see as to why you cannot swap exhaust between cars would be fitment issues and in this case the 530 and 545 has the exact fitment. I know this because I am the one who gave my exhaust away to bosg. Furthermore, I also gave him my custom straight pipe that came with the exhaust and it fits perfectly with his 530. Alex and others, can you please explain what kind of engine tuning is specifically needed? Maybe I am missing something??

Jeffs, if we talk about WHOLE exhaust no possibility to fit because the engine is different .
If you talk about your stupid "exhausts" like Dinan etc. it's evident it fit .

This is THE exhaust :
http://forums.e60.net/index.php?act=attach...st&id=37136

Not the rear silencer or other stupid parts of the exhaust sold to cheat you with a different sound .

Who's the idiot again??
You ?

This fit on 525i, 545i, 550i, 530i, etc.. But it isn't an exhaust .

Alex, if you are talking about Cat-back then yes, different cars needs different setup. However, original poster here is talking about B&B and they do not offer catback system. He did not ask for a full system either, so no need for you to start whining about others' exhausts as being stupid as your lack of respect irritates me. Why are non-catback exhausts classified as "stupid exhausts"? Alot of members here have instaslled such a "stupid" system on their cars and it is therefore not very nice to comment on others' setup as being stupid, right?

OK Back on topic: The difference would be in the rubber hanger. It seems like you might need a custom one as both exhausts hang differently. When I installed the exhaust on my 545i 2 years ago, it hung too low when equipped with the stock housing. My muffler shop luckily had a spare rubber housing of different dimensions. As for bosg's car, the muffler shop did not use any rubber housing at all. Instead, the installer welded the metal bracket to the exhaust. Other than that, I think you should be fine. I'm sure you could find a rubber housing of differnet dimensions if you are not comfortable with welding. Ohhh, the 545i B&B sounds amazing on the 530i, almost identical in volume to the 545i IMHO. Good luck deciding, have you thoguht about eisenmann???

Bug mistake : with a serious exhaust 545i gains at least 25 HP, with 'stupid' exhaust maybe 5 .

I should have just called it a "muffler" (which is basically what it is -- with a short piece of pipe off the front and tips on the rear), but all the manufacturers call it an "exhaust" -- which I guess helps them justify prices no one would even consider for just a "muffler".

I'd be happy to gain 5 hp (which is basically nothing), but that's not my real reason. I just want a deeper, slightly louder sound. To get to where a stock 330i is would be a big improvement (you can't even hear this car under hard acceleration).

Sorry to get you guys fired up, but thanks for the answers. If I see a 8 cyl. "muffler" for a good price now I will know it could be an option.

Jeff
