Thanks for all the replies! Really appreciate it!
I don't know about Taiwan radiation (moved here from Los Angeles) but the
BMW dealer said it was info that he got from the US so I really don't know...
Never really heard about any potential health hazards with radar detectors
other than this so that's why I thought I'd ask on the forum...

Also, I've heard from my BMW dealer that radar detectors emitt heavy radiation (equal to 10 microwaves) but couldn't find any such info on the web. Any ideas concerning this? Is this a scare tactic by the govt to make us not want to use detectors or is there a real feasible health threat? (I got a kid so I'm cautious)
That's a lot of power through a tiny cable that plugs into a cigarette lighter.

Check eBay (US). I've seen V1's for sale on there, and you will probably find a seller willing to ship outside the US.

The Radar gun that the cops use transmit most of the radiation, they send a radio wave or lazer out onto traffic and the signal then bounces off the cars and returns to the cops radar/lazer gun to calculate how fast you are going. A Radar/Lazer detector just reads the radio wave that is being generated by the cop, it generates very little on its own and only enough to increase its sensitivity to incoming radar/lazer.

So illegal overhere ![Frown](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/sad.gif)
With a 100,000 income one can easilly get tickets over 10,000 for a +30 km/h speeding.
The radar could double it, if one gets caught.
The local cops have instruments for detacting radars.
Actually its technically as easy to detec radio signals as it is for the Radar detector.
