I'm thinking of getting a radar detector and was wondering what others are using and what advice they might have concerning this. Anything would be appreciated.
Also, I've heard from my BMW dealer that radar detectors emitt heavy radiation (equal to 10 microwaves) but couldn't find any such info on the web. Any ideas concerning this? Is this a scare tactic by the govt to make us not want to use detectors or is there a real feasible health threat? (I got a kid so I'm cautious)

I don't know too much about the microwave radiation (actually never heard of the issue as it pertains to radar detectors...)
Which one to get is something that's been tossed around a ton here in the past:

Valentine One. I've owned many different detectors and none of them come close to the V1.

V1 without question. I came from the Escort Solo S2 in my E39 and got a ticket with it. I sold it a few days later and upgraded to the V1. It's AMAZING! When they say, "Once you live with the arrows, you can never go back"....it couldn't be more true! The V1 is the most expensive, but it's well worth every penny.

Oh...and check this out!

How cool is that?!?!? Every time they do an upgrade, you can send yours in for that upgrade at a reasonable cost. They never change the body style, so it's only a software/feature upgrade with the actual device.
Pretty smart!
