Garage just called - my aux input is installed and working - hooray!

I'm sitting at work with a my newly ordered passive brodit cradle and mount ready to fit.

As I have black trim, I'm hoping it will be nice and discrete and put the ipod in the perfect position for click wheeling on the go.

I think I have all of the cabling worked out and will post a photo when finished. Cables will be visible, but discrete and I want it to look 'professional' if not factory fitted.

It's all plug in job - I'm not up to taking a soldering iron to my car's electrics, but I think it will work well.

I am in the UK and costs were:

Aux in and power supply - included in vehicle purchase price, but dealer claims ?300

Hama 43330 Connecting Cable 3.5mm Stereo 1.5m - ?1 from amazon

Belkin Auto Kit for iPod with Dock Connector and line out - ?17 from amazon

Brodit Passive cradle and proclip - ?41 from http://www.dsldevelopments.co.uk/

This pictures shows the mount. I tucked the cable under the removable bits of trim and just left a short length hanging.

You can just see the other end of the charger plugged into the new power jack in the passenger footwell. The aux input is right next to it (thanks Iceman for the suggested position.

When the ipod is in position it looks pretty neat:

Sound is great, I can reach the clickwheel perfectly, power supply is switched with the ignition and I have 150 albums (with 20 gig free) with me in the car!

PS - Nice job on the nano install Mixterk - essentially the same position - but a different mount. Unfortunately for me no one seems to make an active cradle with line out that doesn't have a fixed power point on the back (like the one you used)
