I'm from Brazil and i just bought a 2006/2007 550i with every optionals available here (iDrive, Navigation with TV, Head Up Display, Keyless entry, etc...).
Everything works fine, but there's one thing's that bugs me ( NOT EVEN THE AUTHORIZED DEALER HERE COULD HELP ME)
The voice Command button in the steering wheel doesn't work ! When i press it, nothing happens !
The dealer told me that maybe this is some kind of hardware that did not come with my car... Is that right ?
That's really hard to believe since the button is there !!
Is this a hardware or software problem ?? Please HELP !!
In Brazil, everything is VERY expensive, including cars (usually 2,5 times the price in US), that's why BMW owners don't have the proper support, since it's not a very popular car here.
This site is my last hope for information !

Does the voice command button below the iDrive controller work?

 

Both the voice button on the steering wheel and the voice button below the IDrive wheel should make a sound after they are pressed.

For Sure something is wrong. Like Rudy asked does the voice command button below the iDrive controller work? Are you sure that your car have this optional?
My dealer said that only the M5 have the voice control option here in Brazil.
