I don't think you caused any problems here and I hope you realize that everyone here was trying to help you out -- more than likely some things got lost in translation and tempers began to flare.
As far as the length of the wire, no worries -- Valentine designed the unit to accept a regular telephone line cord (the wire between the wall and the phone, not the one between the phone and the handset) so you can get a longer wire just about anywhere or make a custom one if you have the proper crimping tool. Now how cool is that?
(I even keep a spare phone cord tucked in the tool kit just in case something happens to my regular V1 coiled cord.)Good luck with your new toy and, as others have said, be careful with it. Detectors do not make you immune to tickets, especially if you do not have much experience using them. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes getting a ticket or two to gain that valuable experience...

I think I'll go the safe route by tucking in the cords in the headliner and running it under the floor carpet into the passenger side power outlet.
I'm assuming the part that plugs into the unit and the cigerette lighter accepts the plug from the telepone wire? I don't want to splice up wires and reconnect it.

1) The V1 is the superior product
2) You can adjust the V1 sensitivity, I run it in L mode vs A to limit the amount of false alarms.
3) The V1 is $100 more but you get more mounting options/power taps that cost extra on the Escort. The price difference is really about $20.
4) Ability to upgrade the V1 firmware for a nominal fee
5) Stealth display ... get it.
6) Check Ebay, auto forums for private sales, or get a V1 remanufactured unit if you want to save $$$.
Once you have the arrows you will understand how useful they are.
