So far using this detector around the city and urban areas it is too noisy. All the freaking automatic doors and other radio waves are being detected as I suspected. I guess I won't be using it locally just on long road trips. I came close to throwing this thing out the window..
If this thing still beeps in numerous false alerts on my road trip to NC from NJ, I may return the V1 and get the passport 9500ix which would be good since they lock out all the false alarms by learning where they are via GPS. Had it for 4 or 5 days and already annoyed and reminded me why I never got radar detectors in the past.
Getting a bit of a buyers remorse.

Yep, I been using the "L" mode so far. I haven't used any other modes.
Do I use the "A" mode for highway driving? And when should I use the "small L mode"?
Thanks.

Here's a link to the .pdf for the manual. Pages 14-16 should show and explain the computer modes ("A", "small L", and "Large L").

Now, here's a link to reprogram your V1 to customize it to your liking if you wish to do so.
