I, too, am having a charging problem with the v710. Granted, I did the install myself, so I may have missed something.

Here are the parts:
51-16-7-060-175 Telephone Support
84-21-6-946-075 Eject Box
84-21-0-393-570 v710 Snap In Adapter

The phone paired and works fine. In fringe areas, reception is improved with the sharkfin antenna. Many thanks to those who have posted BT details on the board!

My car is a '05 545 with nav, build date 10/04 and version 15.0 software.

If I can't get the charger to work, the parts add up to a pretty expensive antenna upgrade.

I did read somewhere that the dealer may need to configure one of the modules to activate the cradle, but other phones don't seem to have the charging problem.

My problem is the opposite, power, but no antenna. In for second trip yesterday and different (not as sharp) tech. Finished off the install job (had missing cosmetic trip pieces). Could only submit a PuMA on the problem. I. as well as others, believe it is the lack of a connection in the trunk to the antenna, but the tech would not even look. Mine is the first attempt to integrate bluetooth phone in cradle / snap in adapter in either a 5 or 6 series at this dealer so I am the guinea pig. At least one more trip to the dealer in store for me, unless I go looking and fixing myself.

The antenna connection was pretty easy. The left rear panel in the trunk is attached by two plastic screws (1/4 turn each). A firm tug removes the panel. The two ends of the cable connector are sitting (loose) below a mounting plate. Remove a fitting on one end, then plug both cables together.

My car is back at the dealer to try to get it to charge with the V710. I will let you know what they say.

Motorola V710 snap-in working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It appears that BMW has a batch of bad phone cradles and when they replaced my snap-in adapter it started charging and using the outside antenna. BTW you do have to have the initial install done by the dealer. They have to initialize the car to tell the TCU that a cradle is in the car. After that if you change snap-in's ie. get a differetn phone, just make sure that the car is turned off when you change the snap-in. They are not hot-swapable so you have to turn off the car, swith the snap-in and then turn the key back on. You do NOT have to let the car go into sleep mode.

Has this worked for anyone else who had the charging problem? I just got my snap-in adapter for the V710 and installed it myself (had the BMW CPT9000/v60i beforehand, so only needed to replace the eject box and snap-in adapter and hook it up to the TCU). My antenna is working fine, but no charging of the phone (worked fine for the v60).

Is it REALLY just bad snap-in adapters? How will I know I get a good one if I ask to exchange it? They had to order this one, so what chances are there the next one (or two, or three..) is bad too?

If anyone got the charging to work in a different way, please let us know!
