USB Audio - Ipod on New LCI not working !
Just picked my new E61 LCI and its a beauty.
Only problem is that when I connect my Ipod to the car via the optional USB / Audio port the car doesn't recognise the Ipod.
The Ipod begins to charge but that's it, it charges but nothing else.
Anyone know the solution to this ?
My dealer says it must be my cable, but that can't be as it's the official Ipod to USB v2.0 from Apple.

I would not be surprised if your car needs a software update to enable it.
Just don't let them charge you for it.

The car is brand new ! I can't need an up date in the first 5 minutes

False. At the very moment any new BMW arrives, there will be a newer software version available than what is loaded on the car... and if not, it is at least in the works and will be available soon.

I'm not saying this is the answer to your problem. Just saying that it wouldn't surprise me if it were.

You may well be right.
I'm going to post a separate thread on this subject as a warning to others.

This is not some unique issue for BMW. Any software for any computer is constantly being improved for bugs. So at any moment in time, chances are you need an update for SOMETHING.
That's all I was really saying. When people on this board have retrofitted the iPod interface, they have had to upgrade their software. It would be crazy if a new BMW with iPod interface factory-installed would not have the proper software. But, in this crazy world, nothing can ever surprise me.
I have the ipod/usb interface on the new LCI. It was working earlier in the day but all of a sudden stopped working. The ipod doesn't even charge anymore when I hook it up to the computer. Has anyone else encountered this problem. I'm going to contact the dealer tomorrow to see what the deal is. I have an ipod NANO and it's only 6 months old.
