I've been thinking of the same comparison and after speaking with Upsolute via email it sounds good but I think it all comes down to convenience.

If you have an update or something done to your car and you lose your Upsolute, Powerchip or Singh tune that would require (for me at least) you to have to take the ECU out, ship it back to where ever and have it re-tuned. They should all be free but having to do that is a pain in the ass and means a couple days without the car.

So Dinan looks the most appealing to me for this reason. Still haven't justified paying $700 for a couple bhp though..

yea thats a good point but it seems upsolute has the best power gains for a few hundred dollars less and more power than dinan...i think it may be worth it...they say they do it the same day they receive the ECU and overnight it back....idk im still indecisive about it tho

Based on my limited research, if I were to do this I would go with Upsolute. Like you said, they are showing the best bang for the buck.

Now, if RPi and ESS Tuning get together and come up with a program then I might be interested in this. I guess it all depends on how impatient you are. I know I am VERY impatient.

Good luck! Keep us posted on what you do and what results you get.

i can't decide which software upgrade to go with for my 550i....as far as power gains, reliability, and cost....
dinan is listed at $699 for stage 3...the Upsolute $350 +$30 for shipping and the Power chip is $490....
any thoughts
To get the Dinan Stage 3 ECU reflash, don't you also have to shell out big bucks for the Dinan Intake and high flow throttle body?

well dinan's gains are posted with all three...so if you get the intake and throttle body they are optimized by the software...
however, dinan claims that with intake throttle body, exhaust and stage 3 software you have 390hp a gain of 30 over stock....if you add their claims individually the thrttle body-4hp add, intake=18hp add, exhaust=6hp add that equals a total of 28hp gain....thus assuming that the software only adds 2hp for $699 stage 3....their numbers just dont make sense to me!
i have the dinan intake, not the dinan exhaust i have RPi 550i exhaust...RPi scoops and that is it at the moment...i havent broken down and got the dinan throttle body bc i cant really justify it yet...which leads me back to my original problem of which software upgrade to get lol any thought???

There is some question as to whether all these Dinan mods actually get you that kind of gain. Not long ago there was a thread from a member who did a lot of Dinan mods, dynoed it and saw basically no gains (although its 1/4 mile ET dropped a bit).
