No callback yet... they're in danger of failing my voicemail test, i.e. any company that wants to sell me anything worth over $500 that doesn't return phone calls doesn't get my business.

Anyone familiar with this company?? There's a local shop, Rocketeer Performance in San Jose, CA that is the Northern California distributor for their products.? According to this:? http://www.upsolute.com/eng/index.html? they claim about a 10% increase in hp for the 545.? That would put it in 550 territory.?

Rocketeer Performance is quoting me $400 + $25 installation with a 30 day money back guarantee.? Seems like a great cost-to-power-increase ratio.?

Any thoughts?

I am waiting on Dinan chipping. No BMW warranty problems--or at least they are very unlikely.

John was very responsive to my emails and very helpful as well. Hopefully he'll call you back soon.

I'm also very partial to Dinan but not blind to looking at other things. Still very curious about this company.

Tony,

Darwin is able to do chip tuning as well and he charge about the same price as that. I did mine over at his shop, and pretty satisfied with the result. Good luck.

Thanks Anthony. Got your PM as well. So what has your experience been with chip tuning and the factory warranty? Any problems?

You loose the BMW warranty! You do get a warranty from Dinan instead...

Factory warranty is voided when you chip tune the engine, but you get a warranty of the tuning company instead.

The way Dinan tells the story is that the BMW warranty will not be affected even in regard to a problem traceable to a Dinan part given proper installation of the part by a certified Dinan shop. If installed incorrectly, then Dinan says it will cover the problem if BMW does not. Dinan claims that a customer has never been out because of a problem traceable to a Dinan part whether installed correctly or incorrectly by a Dinan certified shop--i.e., either BMW or Dinan has paid. I try to take care of potential Dinan-related warranty issues by having all Dinan work done through my BMW dealer--which is Dinan certified. Doing so also should eliminate chipping and software update issues.

As an added note, Dinan's warranty was actually recognized by European Car magazine when they did their Select Gear award. One of the best aftermarket warranties in the business.

I just wish they release their ECU programming for the e60 already but I guess good things come to those who wait.

That'S not true.

This states that BMW might not cover the problem. It means, the Dinan certified BMW dealer is simply not telling BMW about the Dinan parts and that they maybe caused the problem, but if somehow BMW knows or finds out, they cover it... That's kind of fraudulent to BMW.

You are right Iceman, but mine "reduced" came from the factory if I press the button by the tacho as in an other thread I got the triangle, it was chipped by BMW AG as there is an agreement that they reduced the perf bhp to pay less tax!

Whatever after that I will do some magic.-)

BUT YESS I KNOW YOU ARE RIGHT, whatever you touch under the hood voids the guarantee.
