Also the DRL issue (connecting to ECU you say..) - by turning our light switch one detent to the right > don't we achieve exactly the same thing ? or is there some other functionality I'm missing ?

Now before you guys crucify me, the video I took of the DRL wiring has caused a fault code on the E39 M5 and my wife's car (after I finished up her wiring to see if it was repeate-able.).
Now before you guys crucify me,
the fault code is ONLY evident with the DRL wiring, not the standard PNP setup.

Figuring out the code is no problem, it's just a capacitor or resistor in line with the wire.
