In which case you may be able to find an aftermarket company who will programme the Dension as the ipod interface. While you're at it you might as well buy the AVR as well and then get the ipod and TV programmed in at the same time.

I've got the OEM iPod connector in my car, never been very happy with how slow it is, and the 255 album/artist/playlist limitation. I've been looking at getting the Dension 500, since already having the OEM solution, the Dension is supposed to be plug and play.
What would really sell me on this is if the Dension is if the AVR option could be used for iPod video through the iDrive screen. However, I have the non-NAV iDrive setup in the car, and the general opion seems to be that the AVR is only supported for the professional NAV setup. Does anyone have a different experience?

The AVR uses the TV option which can only be coded on the Prof-Nav cars. So I don't think you can get AVR.

You could buy the ACM as well. I am 99% sure it will work without the AUX-IN coded. All it does it trys to switch to the AUX-IN option on the idrive when you select the ACM video source. That will fail but you can put the AUX on the Dension on.

Could you confirm what would be needed to get the TV function? From this thread you say the Dension 500 + AVR is req'd, and I assume that the AVR acts as the tuner? Would this work as a plug and play or would you need any extra parts and/or a BMW reprogramme to view on the i-Drive screen. My car has Professional Sat Nav (Media Pack) and I have retro fitted the i-pod interface requiring the CD Multi changer to be removed.
Thanks

avr is Densions answer to the ACM. So if you are getting the Gateway you can get the AVR instead of the ACM.
