Per the title really, does anyone know what the going rate is for an aftermarket E60 fully fitted and working with i-drive:
1) aux input or
2) ipod connection

Am not liking my local stealers price!

Thanks

I got a quote the other day to get Dension 500 fitted, programmed with bluetooth as well - ?650. I think just the Dension installed with programming was about ?450.

If you tell us what you have on the car maybe we can suggest a few things.

The car is standard everything - no options/mods just standard spec (so single cd player and radio). Do you still need specifics or does this answer the questions?

Thanks,

Steve

I was looking to see if you had the CDC but seems like you don't. So you are going to have to get 'something' programmed in.

I would suggest that you get a Dension like unit. There are a lot of them in the market, Dension is just the most popular. You then will not only get ipod but also USB and AUX. Yes its a bit more expensive but the clarity of the AUX that runs off the MOST BUS is so much better than the OEM AUX that is programmed into the iDrive.

Bruce - how do you check if a car has CDC prep?

In the UK I dont think there was such as thing as CDC prep. That was a US option. Even with the CDC prep the car 'may' still need to be programmed when the CDC is actually connected. Prep sometimes just means that BMW put the wiring in.

To check if you have CDC prep you need to look in the area above the front fuse box in the recess behind the glove box to see if there are wires there. You are looking for the MOST Bus loop and the power cables with a plug.

Thanks Bruce.

I had a brief look a few days and there is definately a cage for a CDchanger and some sort of thick wire. It looked liked this could be split to obtain the fibre optics but I didn't notice a second cable/wire for the power soure.

In which case maybe in the UK CD prep was always there in every car. The thick wire should have a little straight connector for the MOSt cable and taped to that should be the power as well.

Managed to have a proper look today and found the power plug with the red and brown wire going into the plug. Now all I need is a Dension and programming.

Steve.r - Hopefully this has provided you with some useful info because I have standard everything as well. Best thing to do is have a look in the glove compartment yourself to see iff you got the wiring.
