Suggestions for audio upgrades
#1
Hi
I have a 2008 520d with the base audio spec. It's an Irish car, which may be slightly different from US spec. I don't have Logic 7, Hi Fi option
or factory satnav.
I've added video to the iDrive screen - a process I'll detail in full here in a few days once I've written it up.
I reckon the speakers aren't up to much and I want to do an audio upgrade.
As far as I know, I have six speakers - front doors, rear parcel shelf and two 6" subs under the front seats.
I'm thinking of a Pioneer plug and play amp, upgrading the four primary speakers, upgrading the subs to 8" items - I'm told the
Logic 7 subs are 8" and there should be room.
Am I right in saying there are no tweeters fitted behind the grilles at the bottom of the A pillars? Would it be worth my while
whacking in a set? Any idea what size they should be?
My installer has also suggested a discreet subwoofer mounted in the boot. I don't know the brand, or any details, but it's a long, shallow
unit that would fit between the wheel arches or even could be mounted on the roof of the boot. Is that a good way to go?
TIA

I have the same base UK stereo and have kept the existing six speakers, and added tweeters to front doors and rear parcel shelf (simply plug into the exiting mid-range speakers) and a Blaupunkt THA-275 amp with plug 'n play wiring loom (loops in behind the existing head unit).
Spent about ?320 all in, and it has transformed the sound completely.
Amp and loom link
Front Tweeter link
Rear Tweeter link
