I bought a brand new OEM battery recently. Installed it myself (definately did NOT take 2hrs.). Took the car to an independent for battery registration.

$430??? $200 is what we pay for the OEM BMW battery. Bosch is only around $30-$40 cheaper. All u need is someone with GT1 to register the battery. Takes 10 minutes in and out. Overall should cost $250 installed and registered and that's how much we at Motorcepts charge.

balbs - Where did you take your car to get the battery registered in LA? How much did they charge you? I recently replaced my battery. Thanks boss.

Yes, it was about $250, but I did the install myself.

I took it to the M shop in Eagle Rock. They are about 3 blocks from me. They charged $49. It would be best that you replace your OEM battery with the same one so that they wouldn't have to change the "VO" or some other programming that you installed a different capacity battery. All though they didn't say it, but I'm wondering if putting a different capacity battery would raise the registration charge.

Thanks balbs. Yes, I replaced it with the OEM battery - same spec(110AH 850CCA). I have heard of the M-shop and great reviews on yelp, thanks!

So, I have been doing some shoping on prices.
the mshop, can do it for around $380
Dealer does it for 450.
Found the OEM battery at a dealership for 227
programing is 100 at theMshop

Second option , Get a battery from dealer at 227
downloaded this INPA EDIABAS file (which supposed to reprog battery and read codes)
Buy a usb to OBDII cable off ebay for 30 bucks or soo, and do it my self.

What do you think??
