I also found out that oem part number 25117546373 should also fit it is the short shift option from the 545i

which is weird, because the stock lever is the same part # on the 525, 530, and 545. 25 11 7 546 373 which is the factory "short" shifter (it is shorter, just not by a lot- maybe 20-25%) shows as fitting in all E60s.

I have the 373 shifter, but i've ordered an 08 550 short shifter (different part #) to see if it's any shorter. it's not here yet, i'll report when it arrives.
