I'll copy myself from another thread:

By applying this same reasoning, short-throw shifters are of no value either. The person should "just reach farther," right? Neither are shorter, lighter trigger pulls on a firearm. One should "just pull harder," correct?

I don't believe everything I read, but prefer when possible to try it myself. I would hazard to guess that the majority of naysayers have never tried the SB. But, if they indeed do believe everything they read, then I suppose they will take your comments above as the truth as well.
thats a good argument.

I tried sb on 2 of my friends' e60, I didnt like it but I for sure like the feel of short-throw shifter and you know what, active steering.

Knowing Marc, I believe what he said was at least partially in jest. Like you, I've experienced the SB and read the article. I do not disagree with what it says. I do, however, enjoy the feeling of the SB. Those who just read the article are akin to those who say they do not enjoy X piece by Mozart based on a music review, never having heard it. That is ignorance of the worst kind.
true, and for those sb owners felt sb gives them the wow factor and money well spent. I am happy for them.

We should just quit all this silly car modding shit anyway right??
have you by chance seen the episode of top gear on modding? I thought it was both informative and entertaining.

Really, dickhead?? Me, Krozi and about 70% of the rest of the E60 Forum are ignorant for our endorsement of the SB??
You can endorse it all you want, but if it technically only adds gain to the pedal position signal then it's 100% ignorance cause you could just mash the pedal more.
I'm not against the SB; if you like it good for you.
If someone would post technical data on the SB that is used on the e60, or better yet loan me one, I'd post a DIY version you could build with parts from radio shack.

didnt we all buy these autos for the superior "feel", so if a SB makes the car feel better then why not???? we all do things off impulse and emotions. try it.
