Hi,
Can anybody tell how long the flash of EGS to EGS SAT takes. I am not asking about the coding. Also I have never used it, can anybody share the steps needed to do it?

Hi,
Looking at GKE215.ATS I see that 525i NU71 does not have $2TB firmware, not surprised as it was not available. However ND71 does indeed have $2TB and both of them uses the GA6HP19Z transmission. So I was expecting their $205 to be same.

Excerpt from GKE215.ATS
;Fahrzeugzuordnung (Auftrags-Steuerdatei) vom 13.11.2009 11:51
;TAIS-Abfragedatum (ab) 26.11.2009
NU71;;205;7592110;SE
ND71;;2TB;7592116;SE
ND71;;205;7592120;SE
Anybody has any idea why the $205 firmware is different between 525i and 530i? Also can I just use the 530i $2TB firmware.

They are different because the engine characteristics are different. I mean rev range is higher on 530i so shift points will be off if you were to use 530i firmware on 525i, meaning that you won't make optimal use of the power / torque band.

10mins tops with OBD cable when I did mine. Lots of guides on bmwcoding.com forum, just have a search. Make sure you know about the risk though before getting stuck in.

Thanks leew88. I will then probably hold off that for a while. Planning on finishing up my folding mirror retrofit this weekend.

I could do with some assistance. I have done the SAT HARDWARE INSALLATION. Paddles and shifter and have coded the car so the paddles work. However I now feel brave enough to flash my EGS to SAT mode so I can have full functionality of sports mode. When I press sports mode, all I get is sports word in cluster and steering hardens. No rev matching. Thanks

Hi. This is the easiest method to follow and it removes any room for error:

This assumes you have the relevant SP-Daten Files for your chassis.

Look up your car on RealOEM and look for the production code: Mine is NX72 (E60N 530d)

I then had to find that production code in the SP-Daten\Data folder looking under each of the relevant gearbox codes. Mine was GKE195. In there is a .ATS file. Open this with notepad and confirm your production code is in there. Next to the production code, you'll see a ZUB number for both 2TB and 205. Note down the 2TB ZUB number. All of the GKE folders will cover different production numbers

Open WInKFP, Comfort mode, Enter ZUB and put in the 2TB ZUB number from earlier. Then Program. Takes literally about 2 mins tops.

Confirm using INPA and read the UIF.

Kadir,

For 530d LCI Europe right hand drive according to my document it show production code NX72 with M57N2 engine code (GKE195) the EGS $2TB firmware to be 7592130.

Obviously you need to double check the ECU files yourself using the method described above.

You will need to clear all the error codes which are generated after flashing, also if the engine management light and/or traction control light stays on after flashing you need to recode the EGS with $2TB again in order to clear them.

Make sure you either have a power supply connected up during flashing or alternatively do what I did by connecting some jump leads to another car with the engine running to generate a stable 14v supply.

Good luck mate

I have just replaced the steering from a workshop. The steering bolt was too tight, could not get it off with my tools. I was hoping that I could do the wiring without taking off the steering. Any ideas? I see I can pry off the front cover and pry the bottom cover partially, but, could not get it completely out, does not look like it is stuck due to front cover. Also once I unscrewed the screw on the bottom cover, I could not put it back on. Please some advice, I am planning to finish off the wiring tomorrow.
