I'm sitting here reading posts and daydreaming about the eventual re-delivery of my 07 550i (BMWNA and Dealer are giving me two different ETAs - SWEET! ) on this no-appointment, moderately free Friday and got to wondering about the aluminum trim inserts on the sport steering wheel.

I ordered the anthracite maple wood trim for the car and was wondering if there is anywhere to get the wheel trim inserts in AMW to match. I like the aluminum, but I think it would be more appropriate and consistent to have it match the rest of the trim (OCD much?)...

Thoughts?

TIA,

Guns

I wouldn't do it. I have poplar wood, and the sports steering wheel with the alu insert, not offensive at all.
Wood insert would be too much IMO...

I prefer the current ruthenium/Aluminum insert. It looks more sporty. Howver, when you're serious about doing it, here are the steps:
1. Remove neg battery cable
2. Remove airbag
3. Remove two black hex screws holding the aluminum with T-20
4. Remove multifunction buttons on both sides

That's it.
