im not an audiophile. I just need extra bass than what the L7 provides. Trust me, the JL sub provides enough bass. It can drown out my exhaust, which is pretty loud at low rpms. Im running a mono channel amp at 500w btw.

Do you any cutouts?
These cars don't come with a ski pass like the old winter package 5 series did?
Im thinking i need some 2 12" JL W7s with a JL 1000.1 amp... that should get the job done for that sealed trunk.

depends on your taste. 2 JL sub is overkill. I love bass, but I dont want it to drown out the music.
btw, i have no ski pass
heres my set up. i think this clip is pretty gangster .

Your probably going to need a 1000.1 to each sub. You do that and im sure you can pass some bass through that bulletproof trunk of ours

RJ,
How come you did not go IB? I am on my 4th box and 6th different sub in the trunk. I am having a custom box built from Brich than is a parallagram against rear seats for 2 USD 10" driven by a Zapco 500.1. It will only be 8" deep. It is the best SQ with good output that I have tested. No ski pass. Did remove rear deck 4". Don't use rear fill and it helped a little to remove but plenty of bass enters the cabin.
We still need to hook-up so I can look at the doors. I was waiting for the H650 before I re-place the cabin speakers but now I think I might wait for the JBL MS-8. We'll see.

You're definitely right about e60 trunks being sealed. But there's other ways to get bass into the cabin WITHOUT cutting out the ski pass or any cutting for that matter.
There are countless reasons why your set-up may sound like poop. Did you install everything yourself? Off the top of my head, here's a few possible reasons:
- your subs are improperly wired (ie. series/parallel)
- your subs' impedance don't match your amp's
- your subs are in a pre-fab box (improper airspace)
- your amp's gain isn't properly set (http://forum.realmofexcursion.com/showthread.php?t=1990)
- your line-out converter's gain isn't properly set
- your amp's subsonic filter isn't properly set
- your amp's lp filter is crossed over at the wrong frequency (or maybe it's on full-range)
- you're using too much bass boost
- your subs are firing in the wrong direction (usually rear-firing in trunks)
Is your box ported or sealed? If you like a lot of bass, usually ported is the way to go. But you shouldn't throw the sub in any oridinary box (ie. universal "prefab"). Every subwoofer is different; they have different t/s parameters and different airspace requirements. For example, subwoofer "A" may require 1.3 cu. ft. of airspace for a sealed box, while subwoofer "B" will only require .8 cu. ft. for optimum sound.
Let me know if you're interested in any car audio gear, I stock most of the JL subs and give forum members really good deals.
Thanks John. Your sub does sound pretty sweet. Really good output and amazing sound quality for being in a ported box. For "sq" W6v2's are the way to go.![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)

Its the mtx 4500 2 12" subs in a sledge hammer box that came from MTX with a 850 watt audio planet... i think its just not putting out enough power to get the bass thru the cabin.
I was thinking of maybe purchasing some different subwoofers and keep the amp and see if that helps or i might just purchase something more powerfull and this time get a ported box...
Any sub+amp combo you recommend?
