Will 16" or 17" snow rims/tires fit on an E60? I am asking because there are some good deals on eBay that I would like to get.

example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...me=STRK:MEWA:IT

thanks

PS - anyone have any BMW or general guidelines regarding aftermarket rim/tire compatibilty? that would be some very valuable information. i did a search on the board and it seems there have been many discussions about BIGGER rims, but I would llike to know what smaller diameter/width rims would work (of course because they will provide better snow performance)

I beleive that the 16" will not clear the brakes on a 545i, they are larger than 530 & 525, so you will have to stick to the 17" minimum. Just make sure that the offset works or if you just get the stock 17" non sports package tires, will work.

Thanks for the info! I have a non-sport 545 coming in, so I guess I'll have to look for 17" rims? What is offset and how do I know if it will work?

thanks in advance

If you go to BMW wheels they will show you what 17" rims will fit on an e60 (offset/bolt pattern). It will, however, not indicate if various rims will only fit a 530i vs. 545i. You will probably need to ask your dealer. It does appear a number of 7 series wheels will fit though.

Is that a website? I went to http://www.bmwwheels.com/ but couldn't find anything like that in terms of what rims would fit.

thanks

yes, the web site. If you click on new wheels and select the e60, it will show what current styles will fit. Some of the 7 series wheels fit, but appear to be larger sizes.

It terms of the rims linked on ebay, they won't fit. They are from the previous generation 5 series (E39) and the offsets are different. In terms of the 7 series, there seem to be quite a few style 92s out there, but they are really not optimal for snows (18" wheels).

good luck searching.
