Thumbs up

After learning about the Aux input on this site I went to my sub-par BMW dealer and requested the Aux input for my 525i. They went to the back and told me that it dosent exsist. Would somone be kind enough to let me know what the part number is? They said that they do have one for the e39 but I'd like to use the on for the e60 so they wont give me any push back on the install. The parts dept at this deal is terrible...

Thanks fellahs!

after showing them the manual they were able to order the piece for me. Are most people doing there own installs? I have mine scheduled in two weeks :-(.

I'm primarily going to be using it for my IPOD which since it's going to be in the gloxbox wont be able to be controlled easily errr....

Otherwise thanks for the warm welcome. I'll go ahead and post pic's of the car soon...

Not a DIY job, because of the idrive reprogramming. AUX Input is not plug and play, dealer needs to reconfigure the idrive.

okay..., so I think I'm all squared away there. Question I now have it this then... (mind you I just picked up my car around thanks giving, early x-mas gift 2 self)

I recieved a bluetooth card w/stuff on it at the time of my purchase... it's a 2004. When they "reconfigure" my I-drive will this also update my I-drive version to the lates and greatest? as I understand it I need 13.3+ for bluetooth to be enabled. If not then should I be asking them to update me to 13.3+?

just looking for advise from the e60 guru's ;-)

There is no NEED for your dealer to update the software.
If you want it, you can tell him that your idrive freezes from time to time, or some other known bugs. Then he will update the software. But updating the software takes 4 hours, if everything works out well. Most of the times something goes wrong and they need longer. That means, that a software update requires a day at the dealership.

BMWPARTSGUY -

Is this AUX input connector still available? I've call a couple dealers and they say there's a nationwide backorder of 56 units. One dealer is telling me there is a HOLD on it for some reason and that even if they had it in stock, they're not supposed to sell it.

Can you get one and how much?

Thanks!

^^^ yep, I could not get mine, I was told there was a Freeze on the part.

Dealer could have told me before I brought it in, not after.
