Sounds like you're talking about you aux in port. That's where you'd plug in an mp3 player without the usb interface.

If the plug looks like a headphone jack, then you should be able to plug in any portable media device - ipod, stilletto satellite radio, zune, sandisk portable, etc - into it. You may need a phono to phono cable (radio shack has 'em). Under the Entertainment area of idrive you should see a selection for Aux. You'll need to have that set to listen to music piped in from the aux jack.

A major note: The sound will sound flat, lacking bass and volume. This is because of inline filters used in the aux jack. You can gain sonic range by removing these filters, though the procedure to do so requires being comfortable with disassembly of the glove box, cutting and resplicing wires correctly, and reassembly. The dealer won't do this for you, but a search on "bass" + "aux" using the tool in the upper right part of this screen should yield some instructions. Enjoy!
