Should I tap the wire or not?

I used Don Juan's method to hardwire my Valentine 1 into the wire in the dome lights and it worked great. My question is I plan on installing a boost gauge in the next few days, so if I tap into the same wire that I tapped my V1 into (the green and yellow wire) this could potentially overload the wiring right? I'm trying to find another 12v source I can tap the gauge into but as of right now I have no idea.
My other question is the wiring I used to hardwire my V1 didn't have a built in fuse, could that be a problem also?

Ok well I decided to not tap into the same wire, going to just run it to the fuse box and tap the fuses there.
My other question if the wiring I used to hardwire my V1 which didn't have a built in fuse, could be a problem also and if I should get a fused wire is still something I'm wondering about.

I personally would put a fuse inline ... cant be too careful .. and for the very minimal cost and time to do .. worth doing for that peace of mind....
Im looking for a boost gauge meself too .. do you have any pics or links of the one you are using ??
also where you tapped the boost feed from ??
Thanks
