Bottom line if you add a tune they would have to prove the tune actually caused the failure. That's not possible because these pumps were failing frequently anyway.

As for BMW to continue to use these pumps. Well not all are failing just a high percent. They have made several corrections and I think the latest pump seems to be living a long life. So all the old pumps in service parts they had no way of determining if it would fail. So instead of scrapping all of these pumps they just simply extend the warranty. I know someone that had six pumps in a year and half! And I know a few that are still on their original or second one. Do you know if yours have been replaced?
not sure but that was on my list of things to do tomorrow, call my local dealership and see if they will disclose it to me. Ive read some dealerships refuse to disclose that info. Kinda ridiculous but I try to steal clear on the dealerships as much as i can for obvious reasons (i.e. they think we're all rich and they can screw us over, etc.) So what happened when they discovered your? did they try to deny service? and just curious man? you ex military? looks like a helo pic. I was active army for five years

Ah your in the north north bay. I only run the cobb but I know a few guys that run a jb4. I almost switched but decided to stay with the cobb after getting a etune for E30 map and now the car is fast. I actually just got my Dr Euro DP's in the mail so the ride will be a little bit faster soon.

All you have to do is go back to the salesperson who sold you the car and ask for a printed service history. When I got mine the salesperson provided it with no issues and mine showed in feb 2011 the switched out the hpfp in my ride. Now 40k miles later of some hard driving with a E30 fuel mix my hpfp is running good. If you have issue with getting your service history let me know and I can ask my SA if he can get it for you. He's helped me out a lot and he also runs a jb4 in his E92.

They denied repair because they couldn't read codes. I went down and set it to map but during this chaos I forgot to save. Waited another hour or so in lobby and they returned saying they cannot read obd. I was charge the diagnostic fee and sent on my way. On way home I realized what had happened. So I just removed it and went to another dealer. No further discussions. Problem was a sensor not pump. Six month later pump actually failed took it back to the first dealer this time jb4 was off. They replaced pump with no issues.
That is the cockpit of an old c141c I used to fly. Still in reserves retiring next year.
