If you are looking for a bmw specific tool use ISTA with icom. This is official bmw diagnostic and programming tool used in evey bmw dealership. You can run this software in VMware or native. With this tool you can also perform software updates.

My Ride: 2007, 530i, DTC
Hi,
I have a 2007, 530i and I do DIY repairs; I got to know our 2001, 325 Ci quite well :^). I was wondering what the opinions between the three software packages for this type of work would be. Specifically how is the ease of use, utility, and technical support. These are the three that I've seen here:
1. BM Technic
2. Bavarian Technical
3. Eu Auto Haus
