I lost so much of space when I upgraded to 19" normal wheels because the spare wheel well suddenly had a spare wheel in it when previously it has a whole lot of things.
Some of the things went into the right hand side parcel net but the rest just banged around in the back. Some of those items were the various wipe boxes (i.e. glass wipe, dashboard wipe etc). I thought why don't I have a parcel net on the left. I have see some cars that have a cubby hole on the left and I don't know when you get that option. However this is what I did.
BMW parts needed
1 x B51 7 6 9511 788 - Parcel Net (note this already comes with two clips B51 7 6 951 789 so no need to buy them seperately)
2 x B72 16 1 858 017 - Circlip
1 x 5mm wood drill bit
1 x 10mm wood drill bit
Total time : 10 mins
Best thing would be to remove the left taillight cover when you are doing this.
The net is made for the right side only but if you reverse it and bend the two ends of the fixing rod in the other direction you can make it work for the left side no problem. Simply measure the net rod ends and drill two holes using the 5mm drill on the vertical walls in similar positions to how the right net is attached. Install the net and attach the circlips lightly to the net rods.
Then measure where the bottom clips need to go and then make two holes using the 10mm drill on the floor part of the left taillight cover. Install the two clips and then tighten the circlips. Job done and looks absolutely stock.
Wonder why BMW didn't provide one of each side to begin with.
I'll post a picture later so that you can see it. But this is written to provide you with an idea. Now go DIY.
